Training Description
This CAH Basic Training is intended to provide you with the knowledge to survey CAH facilities. To be eligible for the CAH designation and funding from the CMS, facilities must be compliant with regulations set forth in 42 Code of Federal Regulations. This training intends to develop skills and proficiency in surveying critical access hospitals to verify compliance with the Medicare CoPs.
Training Objectives: On completion of this training, you will be able to:
- Locate and define the requirements for qualification as a CAH.
- Identify the basic CAH survey process.
- Identify the general requirements of CAH.
- Identify the governing body, personnel, and emergency services requirements for CAH.
- Identify the provision of services requirements for CAH.
- Identify the building safety; clinical records; surgical services; periodic evaluation and quality assurance review; and organ, tissue, and eye procurement requirements for CAH.
Training Duration: 24 hours
Completion Requirements: This self-paced CAH Basic Training includes a mandatory pretest, 5 learning modules, a mandatory posttest, and a CMS-approved training evaluation. Both the posttest and the evaluation must be completed to generate a certificate of completion to earn training CEUs. To pass the CAH Basic Training, you must score a minimum of 80 percent on the training posttest.
