Training Description

The BHFS—Introduction to Surveying for LTC training is intended to introduce Federal and State surveyors to the survey process associated with LTC facilities. This training introduces basic terminology and the observation, investigative, and interview skills surveyors use throughout the survey process. Also introduces the enforcement regulations and demonstrates the informal dispute resolution system in which surveyors may participate. This training will aid you in developing your surveyor skills and proficiency by establishing a foundational understanding of the LTC survey process.

Training Objectives: On completion of this training, you will be able to:

  • Identify the types of facilities that are surveyed.
  • Identify the conditions that require that a survey be performed in a given situation.
  • Identify the procedures that are followed for investigating complaints and monitoring compliance in nursing homes.

Training Duration: 10 hours

Completion Requirements: This self-paced BHFS—Introduction to Surveying for LTC training includes a mandatory pretest, eight learning modules, a mandatory posttest, and a CMS-approved training evaluation. Both the posttest and the evaluation must be completed to generate a certificate of completion. To pass the BHFS—Introduction to Surveying for LTC training, you must score a minimum of 80% on the training posttest.
