The nursing home survey, certification, & enforcement regulations at 42 CFR, Part 488 identify four types of surveys. Accordingly, these four types of surveys have been defined in the State Operations Manual (SOM):
- Standard survey
- Abbreviated standard survey
- Extended survey
- Partial extended survey
