Training Description

This NFPA99 training is intended to foster surveyor understanding of NFPA99 requirements to develop survey skills and proficiency. This training enhances new and experienced surveyors’ abilities to survey health care services and systems based on risk to patients, staff, or visitors, with a focus on minimizing the hazards of fire, explosion, and electricity in health care facilities.

Training Objectives: On completion of this training, you will be able to:

  • Identify sections of NFPA99 adopted and used by CMS.
  • Identify how to use the NFPA99 when conducting a Life Safety Code survey.
  • Recognize how the NFPA99 is organized.
  • Determine how to apply the NFPA99.

Training Duration: 32 hours

Completion Requirements: This self-paced NFPA99 training includes a mandatory pretest, nine learning modules, a mandatory posttest, and a CMS-approved training evaluation. Both the posttest and the evaluation must be completed to generate a certificate of completion to earn training CEUs. To pass the NFPA99 training, you must score a minimum of 80% on the training posttest.
